Gathering and Family Portrait
Went for a gathering last Sat. It was my fren's gal's full mth party. We went really early cos we were taking a Family Portrait with my in-laws tt evening. We need to ensure that bb has enough sleep else will be cranky during the photo-taking.
We were the first few guests and my gal has time to get used to the environment and was exploring my fren's garden. She simply loved it! Walking wobbly ard and pointing out to the fishes and dogs' statues. To my surprise, she actually allowed my fren's parents to carry her!!! Must be they have the grandparents' look. My father-in-law will be so jealous. It still takes a while for Athena to warm up to my FIL.
We had a great time and before i knew it, we have to go though my gang of frens only started to arrive. Too bad, got to catch up with them another time. As we were very very close to Pasir Ris Park, we decided to drop by the beach and let Athena experience the sand and the waves...
She was really curious abt it. I placed her near to the coming wave. She didnt dare to move as the wave came rolling over her feet.... hahahaaaaa
That evening, she was super well-behaved at the studio. My younger sis-in-law has graduated last yr. But she only managed to arrange the photo-taking almost one yr later. Which is good, since i would have slim down and Athena is more grown-up. Mayb it's the new environment and strange setup. She sat demure and quietly on my lap as the photographer snapped away. Cant see whether she was smiling though...After that, we had dinner and went back to my FIL's place till quite late.
Mayb we over-simulate her as that night, she had a very restless sleep. She kept waking up crying.... too much fun. We have to control her activities next time.

Bottle
Meant to write but was always overwhelmed with work in office....
One thing i noticed abt my gal is she never hold her bottle on her own. She simply refused and expect to serve as a princess. Huh!! I think it's plain laziness, but hubby said could be bottle not easy to hold. I am using the Avent bottles that are bigger than normal ones. So how do one train a baby to hold her own bottle then?
Another qn, she's now more than a year. Should i switch her formula to another level? She's drinking Similac now and no allergies so far. My mum keeps telling me not to switch but i must, rite? So do we need to slowly introduce the new formula? If so, when shld i start doing so?
Btw, doesnt my princess looking more like her daddy? Mum always complain tt her face very "chou" like pp owe her one million bucks! Well, tt's my gal, got charachter. Hahhaaaaa

Success is bitter and sweet
I have finally succeed in weaning her off. Though it has been a struggle and painful during the first few days last week, it's worth it! I tried to drag as long as possible not to feed her directly. I think it is working and slowly, i dun feel engorged anymore.
So, now i can shout to the whole world, " I have stopped breastfeeding officially after 1 yr and 2 weeks!!!!"
Though now i feel more relaxed and have more time, i seem to miss the closeness i have with my gal when i am breastfeeding her. No wonder some people are reluctant to give it up. But i do enjoy the freedom that you can go out without worrying there's no venue to breastfeed her or u need to be always ard during feeding time. Now everyone can help and we are even training our gal to stay with my in-laws so that we can place her there over weekends while hubby and i start to get our couple-hood back together.
Now, at nite, though it has not been many, there are a few days that she will sleep through the nite. Yes, you have heard it right. After suffering for a year where she woke up at least twice at nite, she can sleep through almost 9 hours straight after i wean her off. So, my mum is right, she just want to suckle for comfort :(
But i noticed that she will wake up when her diaper is wet. Her last change is usually 9pm where she's getting ready for bed. And i am already using pampers premium, so what else can i do? Wake up in the middle of nite to change her even if she's still asleep? Does anyone has other brands to recommend??? Any suggestions?

Sick...
Was sick last 2 days. I had a serious tonsils infection and doc had to give me anti-biotic. I told her i am still breastfeeding but she thinks it is ok since my baby is already one year old. But being the Kai-si mum, i decided to wean her off the nite feeds since i was already planning to do so soon.
Boy, i think i am too gang-hu liao. First of all, my gal refused bottles milk. Last 2 nites had been a struggle and i will have to carry her and pat her back to sleep. I wasted my milk powder as she refused to drink a single drop. Didnt want to make them but hubby was concerned tt she's hungry. She cried so hard and sad tt i am tempted to let her suckle. It took a lot of strength and hard-heartedness not to give in.
Another thing i didnt count on was the engorgement. I think i am too impatient. My breasts hurt so badly tt i couldnt even carry her or walk properly. I consulted a few frens and realized tt i made the decision too hasty. I shld slowly reduce the feeds to one .. then non. B4 tt, i was still feeding her at least 3 times at nite!!! Anyway, i cant stand it though my mum was against it, i decided to nurse her again last nite once just to relieve my engorgement.
Sigh... i think i still need to do it once for a few days b4 i completely cut it off. Else u will see me hatch-back for the next few days!!! :P

Happy birthday My little Princess...
Last sunday was my princess birthday. Boy, daddy really very kan-cheong abt the whole thing. He took leave to buy all the goodies bags and deco and cant wait to decorate the place.
After much deliberation, i decided to keep it small. Strictly only family. As my family itself is already quite large, the number came up to be abt 25 adults and 10 kids. I catered for 25. One key reason is i have been to many One-yr old parties and all kids turned up crying during the cake-cutting session. I guess they are overwhelmed by the people and excitement.
My gal really enjoyed herself as she is familar with everyone and she was the star. I am still waiting for hubby to download the pictures so that i can upload here. I even played the traditional game of letting her choice from a selection of things; eggs, drumstick, pen, calculator, ruler, scissors, ang bao and book. I told my colleagues being such a greedy pig, she will choose food. Hahhaaaa.... i was right!
Her first choice were the red eggs, followed by drumstick, calculator........and lastly book. Sigh.... looks like i have a gal who dun like to study :( Eggs symbolised good fortune while chicken drumstick means she will not have to worry abt food in her life. I think there's nothing much a mum can ask for ba. :P
