Updates
Have not been updating this blog as much as i would like. Been really busy at work and weekends seemed to pass in a flash.
We went to T3 on National Day. We needed a air conditional place for adults' comfort and a big enuf space for my gal to wander around. She's not very steady yet but she insists she's fine and refused to let us take her hand. So we figured T3 will be the answer
I must say, T3 is pretty big and spacious. Athena has a fun time walking ard and exploring things. But there are occasions that she fell. So tempted to buy a baby helmet for her. After that we headed to my FIL's place to watch the National Day's fireworks. Gorgeous!!
As mentioned, i travelled to Sydney for work last week. Boy, do i miss my gal. It's different from previous trips where i am actually relieved to have a break from her (sorry, guilty as charged). This trip, i missed her very much. Does that mean my maternal instinct is growing?? Mayb. Is it that she's cuter now? Mayb. Anyway, i am enjoying the time i have with her.
My fren sms me when i was in Sydney abt the 4 mths' maternity leave. I guess she cant wait to have her 3rd one. Frankly, this incentive dont tempt me at all. I think i believe to the majority 80% that will want kids becos of them and not becos of some one time-off benefit like longer maternity leave or $6000 from govt. It's the cost of rearing them, time commitment and giving them the best you can. I think Singapore govt shld learn from France that provide mthly allowance for kids under 12 of abt U$900. This will really help and encourage pp to have more kids.
Been hearing alot of good news abt pp getting pregnant now. I am really happy for them but for me, i am happy with my one, precious one, Princess Athena :)

Sad....
Just noticed that my gal seems to getting closer to my maid. Agrrr!!!! Horrors of horrors. I guess it cant be helped as nowadays, my mum cant carry her becos of her aching arms and shoulders and I wont want to burden her further on this. I appreciate her very much for taking such good care of her when i work.
Still, my heart just break when my gal went to my maid instead of me on 1 or 2 occasions. Hubby said tt she's playing with me and she's jus being "attitude" Nevertheless, i still feel sad.
It doesnt help tt i will be travelling to ANZ for a week in the week of 18 Aug. Hope she really wont forget me :(
Must spend more time with her this weekend. Now, i understand why some parents are so indulging on the kids. Cos' we only take care of them over weekends and we will give in to their demands as much as possible so that they will Love us just as same and not less than the helper or care-giver. I think this is wat pp called as "Compensating" parenting. You try hard to compensate for the lost time that you are working with toys and gifts.
Still, i think i wont be lax on her discipline. There have been many times tt i beat her hands or scold her for bad behaviour. I guess it's a fear tt all parents have, tt their children will love them less for this discipline. Now, i will not be so judgemental on parents of children that are rowdy and spoilt. We are afterall, only humans

Gymboree
My gal was out the whole of sat last week. She really enjoyed herself. Here was her itinerary ....
Morning, sent my grandma to see a doc. Actually my grandma quite poor thing. She's my mum's mum. She has 8 children. But ever since my grandpa passed on many years ago, she's seen as a liability by her children. They were more interested in getting $$ from her as she still have a flat and a shopfront under her name. A maid was employed to take care of her but no one wants to be responsible except my mum. My mum has been the one taking her for her monthly visits to the doc in Thomson plaza. So last Sat was her appt and we all went as non of her sons want to drive her there and she cant walk. But she wants face and refused to sit on the wheelchair so mobility is a problem. Anyway, we stayed there only a short while (duration of her appt). Hubby and i have brkfst there while we waited. Initially we wanted to walk ard and do some groceries shopping as we can borrow the wheelchair from the clinic. But again, she's too embarrassed to be seen on a wheelchair :( So we are returned home.
I decided to bring Athena for Gymboree class. Yes, i have signed up for her quite some time ago but have been too busy to start her on it. Decided to do so last Sat. Hubby need to send our old car to agent. With the experience of bringing her to Sentosa by myself, i gamely decided to bring her by myself again. The train ride was uneventful but this time she didnt sleep. She was busy people-watching, like her mummy. I was concerned whether she will enjoy the lesson as she cried the first time she was there. Luckily, this time round, there were more kids, so she's not too self-conscious and start enjoying herself. A bit self-centered though, sometimes, she will walk to play other equipment rather than listening to the teacher. Anyway, mummy too tired to follow her ard so i just let her explore on her own :P
Then we have some time to spare b4 daddy came to pick us up. Boy, was she restless. I think she wants to walk but i am concerned especially in VivoCity. It's crowded and no one will notice the "katib" (shortie) person wobbly ard. So she cried in the pram and alot of pp look on. I learnt to be thick-skinned ever i became a mother. I just walked on....
I did let her out at a empty corner with Kiddie rides. She loved Kiddie rides even though we have never actually pay $$ for the rides. She can just seat there forever, playing with the steering wheel or pushing the colourful buttons. And, she screamed when i carried her back to the pram. Wat to do, daddy's arriving....
Last stop for the day, my father-in-law's place. We stayed there till dinner time and luckily for us, she snoozed off in the pram when we went out for dinner. Then we can have a peaceful dinner.....

Sentosa
I took leave on Monday and decided to bring my gal out. The same fren whom i went zoo with challenge me to bring Athena out to Sentosa with her and her 2 kids. Without my helper.
After much thoughts, i took on the challenge. If she can do it by herself with 2 kids aged 5 and 2, i am sure i can do it too! The day started out ok. Athena work up at her usual 630am. After her milk, i decided to bring her to Punggol park for a walk. Sigh, she's too restless to sit in a pram :P Came home and give her a bath. After that, i packed everything into a haversack and off we go. Luckily for me, she fell asleep on the way there in the MRT train.
To be frank, it is quite stroller-friendly all the way to sentosa. From Hougang MRT to Harbourfront to the Sentosa's tram, i was able to push her along in the stroller. We decided just to go to the beach and let the kids play with sand and water. There's a water feature similar to the one in the zoo but much smaller. But the land-tram to bring us to the beach itself is not so. I had to keep the stroller and carried it up while my fren helped me to carry Athena.
When we were there, we really love it! There's a food court for lunch and the sand is soft and white. The place is quite shady too. Luckily for me, my fren was prepared with the kids' sunblock. Yes, not so much on mummy now but need to take care of the kids.
Initially, Athena was hesitate when she sat on the beach. i think sand is a different sensation that she's used to. But after a while, she's happily playing with it. I was watchful though, need to make sure she doesnt eat the sand.
After that, we had lunch at the foodcourt b4 the kids went to play with water. Athena loved the water, she walked around there and splashed happily away. When i took her out, she struggled and didnt want to. Looks like we can bring her to swimming pool now :P
We left at 2pm++ when the weather was getting hot. Then we had drinks at VivoCity before we called it a day. As usual, my gal fell asleep on the way back in the train.
Too bad hubby took the camera. Most of my pics are in my fren's camera, hope she download soon and pass them to me.

Vivo city
Was invited to a friend's solemnization ceremony on Sunday. As her venue is too small, hubby and my gal are not invited.
After a few deliberation, hubby decided to send me there. Venue is at the ulu Labrador Park and go VivoCity with my gal and helper.
Ceremony was beautiful... below is a pic from the ceremony. When i finally met them at Vivo, the damaged has been done. Hubby bought a $49.90 Adidas shoes for my gal. Hello ?!? I dont even spend so much on a pair of shoes for myself!!!! But u can see the makings of a over-doting father in my hubby. Duh!!!
Stingy mummy here will not have spent so much one a toddler's shoes as they will outgrow them very fast :P
Beside this, there's still another soft toy doggie which he bought too... Sigh....

Zoo
As some of you have seen, we went Zoo last Sat. My good fren is back from Shanghai with her 2 kids for a mth and we wanted to go together. Planned to go earlier but she can only make it in the afternoon. So we met at the entrance at 330pm.
Ya late hor, but it's ok. I realized that Athena is too young to appreaciate animals. She's more interested in walking ard. Yes, she has started walking and she think she can run!!!! We proceed to the children playground whom my fren said tt's her kids' ultimate aim. That's when u see all the pics. Athena really enjoyed the water and she had so much fun.
But no, in case some of you are asking, we are NOT friends of the Zoo yet :)
