Back to Singapore

Was back in Singapore last Fri. Boy, was Walldorf cold and dry. My hair was like shrubs and sticking out like dried sticks :( The 14 hour flight almost killed me :P

In case some of you were wondering, Athena do remember me!!! She whined when she saw me last Fri and refused to let me go out of her sight last weekend. So tiring!!! My mum told me she's ok when she stayed over at her place at nite during my trip away. I am really grateful for such good support tt my parents gave me. Without them, i wont have been able to travel in peace. Unfortunately, i will be travelling to Japan next week for 3 days. Another separation! It's only this period of time as i am involved in the integration work.

Anyway, since i was in Germany, my milk supply has been dropping substantially. Even when i came back, it's so low tt i dun need to pump twice in office anymore. Was discussing with Fabian last nite tt we need to supplement soon. Hence, will do so when i am back from Japan. A bit worrying tho as alot of pp warned me tt babies tt are on total breastmilk may not be used to formula milk and have diarrhoea for days :( Hope Athena dun have this prob. Keeping my fingers and toes crossed!!! :)

Going to be away first time from gal in 9 mths

In my last entry, i mentioned that i will be travelling to Germany next week for abt 5 days.

Yes, after manage to "siam" travelling for work for some long, i couldnt escape this time :( It was decided very last minute on Wed tt i will be travelling to Walldorf, a town in Germany on Mon. Agrrrrr... horrors of horrors. The first time i am going to be away from Athena is a long trip (at least to me) to Germany. How? How? How?

So many thots went thru my mind at tt pt. How am i going to pump my milk during my trip in a strange office? How can i bring back the milk? Shld i bring back the milk?? How will athena take it? She still wakes up 3 times at nite to latch on and drink direct from me. Can hubby handle her, all by himself at nite? Most impt of all, can i bear to leave her for 5 days?????

Talked to a fren who is also lactating and often travels for work. Wah, so many things to prep if i want to bring back the milk. It can be chilled or frozen and the handing is totally different. It's a logistic nitemare. But she's really supportive and lend me her cooler box and cabin hold/lock. After much consideration, i decided to bring back only those tt i managed to freeze. Those tt cant will be thrown. i cant really throw all away. 1) it's wasteful 2) my supply been dropping and this will not help!!!! Let's hope i can do it.

Next is my gal's sleeping habit. Till now, she still wakes up 3 times at nite. Once at 12++, another at 3 ++ and possibly 5 0r 6++ So, how are we going to prep the nite feed which requires the heating up of thawed breastmilk?? This is worrying. Talk to my mum and she asked me to let Athena and maid stay over at her place. She will take care of Athena with the help of my maid. I felt so relieve. And, i am so glad tt i stay 2 blocks away from my mum. It really helps. Thank you mum!!!

But the one thing tt is not going away or settled, is guilt. Guilt of a working mother when she has to leave her gal for 5 days, guilt of a mum tt's not ard to comfort her when she's sick and coughing, guilt of a mum tt has to leave it to other pp to take care of her. *Sob*sob* Fear of a mum tt her child will not recognise or want her when she's back from her trip. *sob* sob*....... though hubby was teasing me tt finally, after 9 mths, i will get to have one 4 nites of uninterrupted sleep. But i think like him when he first travel one mth ago, i will still wake up in the middle of the nite, thinking i heard a baby cry... :(

A sick baby is a cranky baby....

Athena has been sick since Tues.... she coughed very badly at nite with alot of phlegm till she puked twice on daddy!!!! (Luckily not on me..heehee). We brought her to see PD in Hougang mall again as Dr ong is not available on Wed's afternoon.

Poor gal, apparently, her nose is very blocked and PD recommend to give her a dosage of nebulisation. :( My heart is so heartpain ... and she was given ventolin and some nose drops to help her. That nite, she slept rather well, prob cos' she has no blockage. However, last nite, her phlegm came back and she was awaken by her own coughing at 5am today. Hubby and i were both awake then to take care of her.

There's so much to learn abt parenting. Being paranoid, i was wondering y no cough mixture was given to her. Ventolin from wat i looked up in Internet only clear air passage, so how will it help to clear her phlegm??? I got concerned and start asking ard. Moreover, met my bro-in-law last nite who told me tt there's many side effect from Ventolin and he wont recommend to use it. That got me panic a bit and start having an argument with hubby whether we need to bring her back to Dr ong instead. But after talking to my eldest sister who has 2 asthmatic boys, she told me Ventolin is perfectly alrite for babies and kids. Side effect is not so serious and it does help to clear phlegm. Of cos; she advise us to monitor another day b4 deciding whether we shld seek 2nd opinion. That got me settled a bit.

But it also made me realized that i have to be more vigilant to know the names of medicine tt's given by PD each time we visit them. My colleagues and sister are able to read off the names of medicine on top of their heads while i am actually clueless of wat's medicine my gal is taking. Sigh, looks like i have more to learn abt parenting.

It doesnt help tt i am travelling to Germany next week for 5 days. OMG, it's the first time in 9 mths that i am not at my gal's side at nite. that got me worried quite a bit. But that's another entry..... stay tune!
