That day when we went to Vivo City with my sister, her gal, my favourite niece, Angelica was very whinny. And when she acted up, me being a soft-hearted auntie will try to appease her with food and toys. Yes, bad of me, rite? Then my sister will tell me to leave her be especially when her hubby is trying to distract her with other things and said tt i am spoiling her which i reluctantly did.
On the other hand, i seemed to be more hard-hearted when it comes to my gal. She will be throwing tantrum and hubby and i will be ignoring her and let her cry out. It got me thinking.... are we too hard on our own kids and too lenient on others? Mayb so as we always have high expectation on our own children. She shld be clever, obedient and NOT spoilt.....then how come i will always give in to Angelica then? Hmm....
Sometimes it's hard to be the bad guy. I tend not to give in to Athena when she throws her tantrum. Yes, my little one is a tyrant. She will stamp her foot and show fustrations when she doesnt get her way. I am quite firm in certain aspects. But sometimes it's hard to be the bad guy. Cos' when this happens, my gal will run to my maid and i will feel like @#$%^. A colleague told me yesterday to look everything with a positive and different view. In this case, it means tt my maid has been taking care of her very well and my gal trusts her and is not being ill-treated. I do feel much better after we talked abt it.
Another pt, not sure whether anyone of u have these problems before. i think my gal is quite advanced in her speech as she play with cousin Angelica everyday. So now my gal can say, "apple", "star", "dog", "bird" etc which i thot was pretty impressive for a child of 16 mths. But recently, the tables have turned. Angelica began to imitate my gal and speaks like her instead. My little girl has her own fan club!!!! My mum's neighbour has a 3-yr old grandson who loves my gal too, begin to imitate Athena's actions too! And the best joke is, he told his grandma that he wants a hair-pin just like Xinyi's (my gal's chinese name) so that he can pin it the same way as her! When i told this story to the same collague again, she told me that i shld be happy. It seems that my gal is a natural born leader. She is influential and able to get pp to follow her. Imagine tt!!!! She's rather perceptive, if u asked me. i never even thought abt it in such manner. Guess i have much to learn....

Long weekend
Last weekend was long weekend with Deepavali fell on Monday. Sat was a long day with we going to Toa Payoh early in the morn. Hubby has been nominated by IMH for the best caregiver for his cousin. So he has to go there and receive the nomination. So proud of you, hubby!!!
Intend to bring bb to gymboree but as usual, she fell asleep and we had to miss the class again. Hubby and i went for our flu shots while she slept since we are going to HK next week. Better safe than sorry. With nothing to do, my MIL and i decided to go Waterloo street to pray while hubby went Sim Lim Sq. After tt we went to OG as we wanted to get princess a small haversack. Her cousin, Angelica has a Barney haversack which her daddy bought from Canada and princess always snatch with her. But when we went to the toy section, Princess is not interested in bags at all. She's more keen with all the kids cultery as she walked ard and explore with her usual confident self. Hubby and i decided to save $$ and dun buy her any. :P
Sunday, we brought her to a music trial class from Sempei Music at Hougang mall. We signed her up for this instead of Kindermusic is purely due to convenience. She seems interested to what the teacher is teaching but she cannot sit still!!! All other kids (some younger than her) will sit with their caretaker and tried to follow the action and movement with teacher while my gal struggle to get off my lap and walked towards the teacher and have first class view of wat the teacher is doing. Aiyo, cannot control her. As wat my mum said, she has pointed backside, cannot sit still!!! I think she's interested as the teacher is engaging and she loves her. Too bad no available class at the timing tt i want. So may have to wait till next yr.
Sometimes i wonder whether Athena is hyperactive?!?
On Monday, we decided to go Vivo-city as hubby needed to buy some pants from Marks & Spencer. Y M&S? Cos' they are the very few shops that have hubby's size. Hubby, u need to loss some weight. Wah, tell you, even though PM has said recession is coming, it definitely dun feel in shopping scene of Singapore. It's so crowded and we have to q to get in the carpark. Met my sister there with Angelica. So interesting when my gal insisted to walk ard while Angel wanted to be pushed ard. Stressed!!!

Gathering
There is this group of frens that i keep in constant contact and we tried to meet up once a mth, if not once every 2 mths to catch up especially one of us have a young bb. So last Sun, we did it again. We had potluck at a fren's place that is very near to Pasir Ris Park and we were hoping that we can go to the park with the kids. But recently the weather in Singapore is crazy. It's so HOT!!!! So of cos' it didnt happen as we laze ard after food and try to chase after our kids.
I tried to catch up as much as possible but it's pretty tough and i think mayb it's easier for just the gals to meet up over dinner and tea without the kids next time so that we can have a proper catch up session. There's so much happenings among 6 of us. One got a new place; one got a new baby (k, 4 mths is not so new anymore), one is just pregnant and the other one is trying (i think) and as for me, i am still trying to cope with my new role in office and learning how to let go.
Meaning, Athena will run to my maid and call her "mamaa".... sad rite? But i tried to comfort myself that mayb she associate the role of my maid during weekdays as what a mummy will do. Which is not exactly wrong. And given the fact that she cannot pronounce "auntie" yet, she prob blurt out one of the few words that she knows. That's wat i am hoping. Sigh...... else guilt will eat me alive!
And, she had another accident that day. She pooed at my fren's place and i decided to give her a quick shower. Big mistake. Just when we are done, i turned to take the towel and kids, being kids, she tried to play with the water on the floor and right before my eyes, she slipped and fell on her head !!!! You can imagine how hard and long she cried on tt. Luckily, there's no "ba-lu-ku" . Still, i was pretty worried and whole day, i was keeping tabs on her behaviour. The usual lah, whether she behaved differently or she puke or any possible signs that she may have a head concussion after the fall. Luckily all is well. What a scare!

Anniversary
Last Sat was our 5 yrs' wedding anniversary. :) Time really flies and we have been happily married for 5 yrs. As it falls on a sat, we couldnt take leave and spend some couple time together. After some "plotting" and planning, we decided to place Athena with my in-law tt evening. Then 2 of us will have dinner. Alone. :)
Wasnt planning to get anything for hubby. Cos' hubby always want some hi-tech gadgets which i am unfamiliar with eg, portable mini laptop; iPhone and portable hard-disk etc. Sounds alien, rite? It would have been easier if he wants a branded watch or some IT bags. Hahahaaaa... anyway, was very stressed when hubby hinted tt he got something for me last Wed. Panic as i didnt get anything and dun have the time to get it!!!! Anyway, after much thoughts (within such a short time frame), i decided to get him a belt and wallet as his are old and disintegrating. In case some of ur are wondering, he got me a wireless headphones and a 26 inch LCD. I think the latter is what he wants :P The reason was someone always need to be with Athena at nite even after she falls asleep. After that when i wants to watch TV, i will put to "mute" and i can only watch shows with subtitles. Hahaaa.... silly rite? Anyway, hubby took pity of me and got me the wireless headphones. Tried it last nite, pretty good :)
Anyway, Athena missed her gymboree class last sat. I didnt mean to let her continue with the class but she still have 5 lessons left. After some observation, i decided to put her to one-level up (Level 4) cos' i realised she's getting bored in her existing level. She doesnt really join in the activities, so i changed her class to Level 4 instead and the timing changed to 2pm instead. But last sat, she decided to take a long nap (mayb purposely) so we missed it.
Hence, when she woke up, we brought her to library instead. We noticed that she is fearless. She dont bother to check whether we are following her when we walk in crowded shopping malls. She will charge full ahead and not afraid of getting lost. I will always purposely keep a distance behind her to watch her behaviour. Sad to say, she has no sense of danger. She will even run around in the library by herself. On the positive side, mayb she's brave and fearless and can grow up to be a confident and courageous person
That night we brought her to FIL's place. After staying for a while, hubby and me sneak away and had a quiet dinner. We talked abt how much our lives has changed for the past 5 yrs especially with the arrival of our little rascal. All in all, it was a good dinner. And our parents-in-law have passed the test! This means we can put Athena to my parents-in-law place next time. Hahaaaa... :)

Cutie Pie
Athena is really very cute these days!!! Sorry for being thick-skinned here but she's really very adorable! Even though i used to scoff at parents who went "ra-ra" over their kids, i got to admit to myself that i am doing tt now. Let me give u a few examples.
She's been taught to peck pp at their cheeks. But we also taught her to kiss us on our lips. Yes, her first kiss has been given to her mummy :) Now, whenever we asked her to kiss some other kids, she will naturally kiss them on the lips. Oops, there goes all the virgin kisses. Muahahhaaaa....
We have stairs in our home as we stayed in a maisonette. She loved to sit on the first step and swing her shortie legs while waiting for us to get ready to go out. At nite, we usually will wear socks for her as we sleep in aircon room while she refused to use the blanket. She loved her socks. She will try to wear them and it's simply a joy just to watch her sitting down at the side of her bed, trying very hard with her whole face in earnest concentration to wear the socks by herself. Cute, rite?
As mentioned previously in my blog, she loved music. We have been thinking of bring her to music class but this mummy is so busy with work while daddy simply sits on it. Wat's new rite? Anyway, i digress. Now, when she hear a song that she likes on TV, she will try to move her head from side to side as what u see some kids doing it. The funny part is, she cant rock naturally like those older kids so her action will be very slow and eager as she tried to move her head from left to right. Next time, i will videotape it and put it to the blog.
She's also starting to communicate to us more on her wishes now. When we are feeding her, she will shake her head to tell us when she had enuf. When we ask for whether she wants something, she will nod her head (very hard, i must say,)and say, "hemm" Nowadays she understand her daily routine and will wave me goodbye when her daddy bring her to my mum's place every morn. No more tantrums and i am able to go to work in peace.
Though alot of pp ask me whether i want a 2nd kid, to be frank, as at now, i just want to give her all my love and time (though not much on this aspect) so the answer is still , "No". But we'll see...

Work
Sorry that i have not been updating this regularly. Last few weeks, i was swamped with work.
For those that have been keeping track of my career, i have just switch... no not New company again but a new role. I have decided to give up a Project Manager role and go back to operational finance. What it means is that i am back to frontline supporting business and so i was heavily involved in the qtr-close. My new role is exciting and interesting. But it also means i have to work late.
On the last day of sept 30th, I worked till 12midnite in the office. Gosh, wat an experience! The next day, i worked in the morn and was clearing a bit of work. After that, i brought my gal and mum to T3. Suay, suay, when i am out, the SAP controller called me and she needed some info in an hour's time. @#$$%^^ hello, i am already out rite? No choice but to call my boss in ANZ to ask her to help. If the request had came earlier in the morn, i will have been able to work on it. When this was resolved, my mum keep complaining y i am on the phone so much... :(
The few nites when i worked late, princess was already sleeping when i reached home. Gosh, how guilty i feel :( Sometimes i wonder whether i work too hard. But then, if not, how can i afford all the enrichment class for her next time? Such a tough choice to make.
I was so busy that i dun have time to get my hair rebonded. For those who knows me well, my fizzy hair needs to rebond at least twice a yr. The last time i did it was more than half a yr ago and i am having bad hair day everyday... affect my mood to work man. Weekends, i rather spend time with my princess than wasting 4-5 hours in a saloon.
Took half day today initially. But got a "bomb" this morn for a request to be done by COB today. Shit! KNS! @#$%^&& hopefully i will be able to take leave tomorrow. Wish me luck!
